Every teen who comes to me for medical care for abuse has so many questions, doubts and fears. ASK AARON is my new YouTube channel - still in early stages of development - for teen and young adult survivors of abuse where I share everything that I would tell them if they were in my office - providing information, inspiration and support.

If you're feeling stress and need help right now, click here to contact these groups.

Send me your questions about physical abuse, sexual abuse, and emotional abuse, and I will choose some of the questions to answer in future videos:

If you find these videos valuable, please become a patron for as little as $2 per month to help ensure we can continue bringing these messages of hope and support to survivors of violence:

ASK AARON
BRANCH

Every child deserves to grow up in safe, stable, nurturing relationships. Over the past 15 years, my clinical work has focused on providing medical care to children suspected of having been physically and sexually abused, and my policy work has focused on increasing expertise and strengthening collaboration between the medical, law enforcement, and social service agencies that respond to child maltreatment and intimate partner violence.

I am a pediatrician, board-certified in General Pediatrics and in Child Abuse Pediatrics, and I’m an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City. As Director of the Lincoln Hospital Child Advocacy Center in the Bronx, New York (2007-13), I served on the NYC Mayor's Task Force on Child Welfare and Safety, and I completed an Executive MPA at Columbia School of International and Public Affairs.

In 2013 I founded of a nonprofit organization named BRANCH – Building Regional Alliances to Nurture Child Health - whose mission is to develop the capacity of health systems to address child maltreatment and intimate partner violence as public health issues.

I served as the lead consultant for UNICEF in Malawi (2014-16) and Namibia (2017-18) to develop each country’s first-ever national guidelines for interagency collaboration on child maltreatment and intimate partner violence, and to implement a training of trainers to improve the services provided to survivors. I was a contributor to WHO’s latest clinical guidelines for treatment of child sexual abuse (2017), and I serve on the Executive Committee the Ray Helfer Society - the leading international medical society for physicians addressing child maltreatment.
